Some of the
children in P5-7 trained for the Angus cross-country championship. Ten
children competed on the 16th March. We trained every Tuesday and some Thursdays as part of gym.
Sometimes we were taken by car to run in different places. We practiced
speed and distance. Our coach was
Denise Mellish. Our teacher ran with us too. In the Championships, two boys
competed in the P7 boys race, two girls competed in the P7 girls race
with six pupils competing in the Small School’s team race.
All
our training paid off and we were very successful. One of our P6 came
first! In the rural race our first runner came in at 16th
place, our second runner came in at 26th place and our third
runner came in at 64th place. We all really enjoyed the whole experience
and getting fitter. We also enjoyed a special treat of ice cream
afterwards. We all vote a HUGE thanks Denise.
Our Wendy House is getting refurbished
because we got a grant of £250 from Eco Schools. We decided to
change it in to a ‘Chill Out Zone.’ We decided to insulate it with
polystyrene and then cover it with ply wood. We are having a book case
under one window and heat sensor paint on one wall plus two blackboard
walls. We have cushions to make it more comfortable. We are hoping it will
be ready by the summer.

The Rag Bag collection is designed to encourage more people to recycle their
belongings; clothing, shoes, bags, hats, belts,
towels, curtains and bed linen. They will be made into mattresses and
soundproofing or used as wiping cloths for oil and printing industries. On
Monday 26th February the lorry came and picked up fifteen
bags. By collecting 80kgs we managed to raise £16. To acknowledge this
we got a certificate.
The Stoves
Stomp was a great success, around 70 people attended. It took place on Wednesday 14th February 2007.
People recited Scottish poems and people played Scottish tunes on the
cornet. We had Stovies, refreshments and enjoyed Scottish dancing. The children did two demonstration dances called the Joe MacDiarmids Jig and the Le Papillon. It was a fantastic night that everyone enjoyed. The band that played was called James

Tartan Tam has
been at Eassie Primary for five weeks. These are the rules for Tam; please
keep Tam clean and safe while he is visiting you; please provide suitable
tartan clothes for him. He loves getting his picture taken. Tam has been
to Robolab, Webster’s High school and a basketball competition.

He is spending
time at Eassie before journeying to Sri Lanka and spending time there. His
experiences in both schools can then be compared. At the moment, he is
wearing a tartan traditional kilt, waist coat and a tartan hat. Perhaps
he will return in an outfit from Sri Lanka. His outfit is made by Audrey
Kelso and her niece Eilidh Kelso.
